Hiking Tours : Walking around a new place and community is one of the best methods to immerse yourself in the environment. Hiking provides the ideal opportunity to experience the varied views and sounds. Whether you are an experienced hiker or rarely go on lengthy hikes, hiking is an excellent addition to your African safari.
There are numerous ways to approach a hiking or walking safari. Most people include hiking and walking as an activity on one or two days of their otherwise traditional safari itinerary.
Types: Hiking Safaris
While all hiking can be defined in the same way, the manner in which particular hikes are carried out requires difference. This is due to the fact that each of these types has different requirements. Here are the several types of hiking vacations that are available in Uganda.
Guided City Walking Tours
City walking tours are an excellent way to see and experience any location. The situation is no different in Uganda’s cities. Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja, and Gulu are popular destinations for this due to their historical significance. Kampala, the oldest and largest city, has the most attractions.
On this excursion, our safari guide will accompany you and your party as you stroll from one location to another, learning, seeing, and experiencing Uganda for yourself.
Guided Village Hiking Tours
Uganda’s countryside is stunning, with each location offering a unique landscape. Guided village walks take place in local village communities that you may already be visiting on your Uganda safari.
One of the greatest sites for these types of hikes is Eastern and Western Uganda, where the environment is dotted with hills, mountains, and waterfalls. As with guided city treks, our tour leader will accompany you. You might also be joined by a local person who is well knowledgeable about the area’s history.
These guided hiking tours in villages are frequently sponsored by local community groups, with proceeds going towards community projects.
Guided forest hikes
Guided Forest Hikes take place in protected woodlands. This could be in a national park or forest reserve. You are accompanied by both our guide and someone from the forest management.
These are excellent ways to help maintain and conserve such crucial ecosystems.
Walking Wildlife Viewing
This is essentially a walk through animal game parks or reserves. While it is permitted in all parks, some rigorous limits apply for safety. Seeing wildlife up close is an exciting experience, but only in safe areas and with an armed park ranger to guide and protect you.
Mountain Circuits
Mountain circuits are shorter climbing routes. These occur on the lower ranges of mountains such as Rwenzori or Elgon and do not require climbing ability.
These mountains are watersheds, and hiking through the circuits shows numerous unique birds, foliage, and waterfalls, both little and large. Depending on the walk you choose, a local person may accompany you, or our guide may handle everything.
Self-guided Hikes
This is when you do not use a tour guide. This works best if you have acquaintances in Uganda who will act as your ‘unofficial guide’.
If you don’t have someone to help you with a self-organised walk, we recommend that you conduct extensive research to ensure that you deal with the correct people. Another viable alternative is to hire a tour company for the consultation and solely pay for the services.
